At Worldwise Investor we believe getting a picture of how a fund is managed and set up is just as important an indicator into how a fund is likely to perform as other indicators such as past performance.
That's why we've added this to our fund library filtering.
Corporate Responsibility
- Do they publish an AGM voting record - in other words is the fund open about what they are doing at the company AGM.
- Is the Investment House a member of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) and committed to these principles?
SRI Staff
- Independent Committee of Reference - does the fund employ outside experts on industry or ethical issues to provide guidance and expertise to the fund manager.
- Internal consultants - such as SRI consultants, so that the analysts used are not simply looking at financial matrix but also wider issues around the environment, society and corporate governance.
- External consultants - these are external SRI experts who benefit from potentially a wider and more expensive level of research into sustainable and responsible concerns.
Fund process
- Sustainability - does the fund manager look at how sustainable a company might be when looking at long term resource and environmental constraints.
- ESG – stands for Environmental, Social and Governance factors and is a key part of the principles for responsible investment laid down by the UNPRI and indicates that a fund manager is considering in the investment process a broader range of issues that may impact future company value.
- Engagement - this is about a fund manager helping companies to improve their business processes rather than simply disinvesting on ESG grounds, it is a central part of helping companies change positively, and protecting shareholder value.
